My first photos of the Salisbury Cathedral Peregrines for the year.  A bit murky first thing this morning before the sun broke through, but go some distant shots of both adults around the spire.  Not totally sure, but from the webcam, it appears only two of the chicks have survived so far which would be a shame.  Also, a photo of a Swallow.

Loads of Sand Lizards at Arne this morning.  Found a new spot, and there must have been 6 - 8 all within a few metres of each other.  Including two female lizards engaged in a head biting competition.  Also, one of the Watervoles on the pond there.  No roosting Nightjars seen.

Determined to try and get a decent Cuckoo photo this year, spent a few hours in Mark Ash Wood this morning.  One Cuckoo very active, saw him repeatedly, but only one distant shot perched at the top of a tree against nasty white sky.  But the Tawny Owl was back in his usual spot, albeit rather difficult to see now the leaves are out.  And I got a nice shot of a Treecreeper - watched a pair of them gathering food.

A few things from today.  Just after leaving the house this morning, about 500m down the road I spotted a couple of Stoats run across in front of me.  So I pulled up and waited to see if they'd reappear.  After a couple of minutes they did, along with a third.  I watched them for about 30 minutes running around the road and hedgerow, occasionally carrying something in their mouht.  I'm guessing they'd found a nest to raid.  But they seemed to be having a lot of fun.  Hilarous little things.

After that, on to the New Forest.  While drinking my coffee in the car park, I spotted a pair of Common Redstarts going in and out of the upturned tree at the edge of the car park.  So I jumped back in the car, used it as a hide, and got a few shots of the male and female bringing food into the nest.

And then finally, on the way home, the Little Owl was back.  On a new post.

Counted at least 6 Turtle Doves on Martin Down at first light this morning.  Then moved on to Langford Lakes - Swallow and Hobby.
